What is MolluDab Solution (5% Potassium Hydroxide)?

MolluDab is a clinically proven topical solution to effectively treat molluscum contagiosum, an infection that causes spots on the skin. MolluDab contains 5% potassium hydroxide which is very effective (when used as directed) to help treat the molluscum contagiosum virus.

How to use this product

Always use MolluDab Solution exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. Before you use MolluDab, the box can be used as a stand; simply press in the perforation and place the bottle in the opening to help prevent spillages while using. Once opened, use within 4 weeks.

Open the child safe lid then dab all the molluscum bumps with the flat side of the spatula. After applying it to 1-3 bumps, wet the spatula with the solution again. Allow the solution to dry on the bumps. Apply twice daily (morning and evening).

As soon as inflammation appears (recognisable by redness that lasts for 12 hours or more) stop using the product because it indicates that a molluscum bump is healing.

Now it’s time to be patient and wait for the molluscum bumps to heal. Once inflamed, healing usually takes between 1 and 4 weeks. Stop using MolluDab after 14 days, even if no inflammation is apparent and consult your doctor for further advice.

How does MolluDab Solution (5% Potassium Hydroxide) work?

MolluDab Solution works by breaking down the skin cells infected by the virus. When applied onto the molluscum bumps it stimulates the body’s own immune system to detect the virus and can treat the bumps, usually within 1-4 weeks.

Is MolluDab Solution (5% Potassium Hydroxide) suitable for children?

MolluDab Solution is suitable for children over 2 years of age. If you’re looking for a treatment for molluscum contagiosum for a child younger than 2, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice on alternative treatment options.

Is MolluDab Solution (5% Potassium Hydroxide) suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new product.

When should this product not be used?

MolluDab Solution (5% Potassium Hydroxide) may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
