How long does fluconazole take to work?
Fluconazole will normally work to clear up a fungal infection within a week.
You will usually see improvements in your condition within a few days, but if your infection is particularly severe it can take anything up to 14 days.
If you have taken fluconazole and haven’t seen any improvement in your condition after a week, we recommend speaking to your local pharmacist, GP, or health care worker.
They will assess your condition and decide whether a second dose of fluconazole or a different treatment altogether would be a better fit for you.
Does Fluconazole Have Side Effects?
All medications can have side effects, and fluconazole is no exception. Some of the most common side effects of fluconazole include:

If you experience these or any side effects while taking fluconazole, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist or seek medical assistance immediately, if necessary.

Can I use clotrimazole and fluconazole together?
Yes, you can use clotrimazole and fluconazole at the same time to treat fungal infections like thrush.
These medications work well together as a two-pronged treatment for fungal infections, especially in cases of thrush.
You can buy fluconazole and clotrimazole together in products like Canesten Duo or buy them separately over the counter to save some money.
Can I buy fluconazole over the counter?
Yes, fluconazole is an over the counter medication, which means it can be bought from a pharmacy without the need for a prescription.
