What is Zerobase Cream?

Zerobase Cream is an emollient cream that can be used to soothe and protect your dry, irritated skin. It’s perfect for the whole family, softening and moisturising areas of dry skin and giving it the chance to repair. This cream can be applied to the skin throughout the day or applied before you take a bath to keep the skin from drying out further.

What is eczema?

Eczema is a dry skin condition that causes patches of dry, irritated, itchy skin. It’s a common condition, especially in children, but many find that they grow out of it as they get older, or that they experience eczema for the first time as adults. When you have eczema, you may find that you have flare-ups after your skin comes into contact with irritants, such as harsh soaps, cold weather, or things they’re allergic to. You can experience eczema all over your body, in small patches or wider spread areas, with some of the most common eczema sites being the hands, ankles, backs of knees, insides of elbows, face, and scalp.

How will Zerobase Emollient Cream help to soothe my dry skin?

Zerobase Cream is an emollient, which means it works by forming a protective barrier over your dry, irritated skin. This helps to keep water locked into the skin, keeping it from drying out further and giving it the chance to heal. It also helps to protect raw areas of skin from irritants, such as harsh soaps or detergents, helping to prevent further irritation as your skin heals.

Can I use this product if I’m using other medications?

Zerobase Emollient Cream is not currently known to interact with any other medications. However, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this product if you are taking any other medication, especially topical formulas which are used on the same area of skin. Some medications may not be suitable to use together or may need to be used at different times, but a medical professional can help you to use your medications safely.

Can I use this product during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Zerobase Cream is unlikely to have any adverse effects if you use it during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. However, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using this or any other medication at this time, to ensure it’s safe for both you and your baby.

How to use this product

Apply to affected areas of skin as often as you need to. Smooth gently onto the skin, rather than rubbing the cream in vigorously, following the direction of hair growth (as you would when stroking a dog or cat). If you use this product to protect your skin during a bath or shower, be aware that emollients can make your bath or shower slippery and be careful not to slip.

When should this product not be used?

Do not use Zerobase Cream if you are allergic to liquid paraffin or any of the other listed ingredients. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes or other sensitive areas. This product contains liquid paraffin, which is an important ingredient in most emollients, meaning that any fabrics that come into contact with this product will be more flammable. Due to this, you should avoid smoking or going near naked flames while using this product, and should change any clothing, dressings, bedding, or other fabrics that come into contact with this cream regularly.

Does Zerobase Emollient Cream have any side effects?

Like all medications, Zerobase Emollient Cream can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These include mild allergic skin reactions, e.g. skin rash. If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. For more information about reporting the side effects of medication, please see the MHRA’s Yellow Card Scheme.
