What is Lypsyl Cold Sore Gel?

Lypsyl Cold Sore Gel is a treatment for cold sores which works to relieve symptoms of pain, itching and irritation. It helps to ease your symptoms while protecting the skin around your cold sore, stopping infection from spreading until your cold sore has healed.

What causes cold sores?

Cold sores are caused by a highly contagious virus which lives in your skin. Once you have this virus, it can stay in your body for life, causing cold sores around your mouth and anywhere else on your face. Cold sores look like small fluid filled blisters and you may feel a burning or tingling sensation when one is about to form on your skin.

How will this product relieve my cold sores?

Lypsyl Cold Sore Gel contains three active ingredients which all work to treat cold sores. These ingredients are:

  • Lidocaine
  • Cetrimide
  • Zinc Sulphate

Lidocaine works as a local anaesthetic, reducing the pain, itching and irritation caused by your cold sore, while cetrimide works as a disinfectant and zinc sulphate works as an astringent, protecting the skin around your cold sore.

How to use Lypsyl Cold Sore Gel.

Apply a small amount of Lypsyl Cold Sore Gel to the affected area. Do this 3 or 4 times every day until the cold sore has completely cleared.

When should Lypsyl Cold Sore Gel not be used?

Lypsyl Cold Sore Gel is not suitable for use by children under the age of 12. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. For external use only, avoid getting gel into contact with eyes. If you experience any pain or irritation while using this product, stop use immediately. If irritation continues, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away.
