What is Cymex?

Cymex is a cold sore treatment cream which helps to relieve pain, itching and irritation caused by cold sores. Just apply a little Cymex cream every hour for a treatment that will help to ease your symptoms while keeping the infection from spreading.

What are cold sores?

Cold sores are fluid-filled blisters which usually appear on the skin around your mouth or lips but can appear anywhere on the face. They are caused by a very infectious virus which gets into your skin and can cause the appearance of a cold sore at any time. You can usually tell if a cold sore is going to develop as the affected area begins to tingle, itch, or burn.

How will this cold sore cream treat my cold sores?

Cymex contains three active ingredients which make up its unique triple-action formula. These ingredients are:

  • Urea
  • Dimethicone 350
  • Cetrimide

These ingredients work together to soothe irritation caused by cold sores while keeping the infection from spreading. It also helps to promote healing, so your cold sore will vanish more quickly.

How to use this product.

Apply Cymex cream sparingly to the affected area. Repeat treatment every hour, as necessary. If symptoms persist after using this product, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist.

When should Cymex not be used?

Do not use Cymex cream if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. As with all medications, a cold sore cream can have side effects, although these are rare and not everyone will experience them. These side effects include:

  • Inflammation
  • Redness
The ingredient cetostearyl alcohol may cause local skin reactions so use caution when using.

If you notice these or any other side effects while using Cymex, stop using this product and speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist. If you discover any side effect, then you can report it. For more information about recording side effects to medication, please see the MHRA’s Yellow Card website.
