What is Kolanticon Gel?

Kolanticon Gel is a form of treatment known as an antispasmodic, which helps to relax muscle spasms, an antiflatulent, and an antacid. It works by relieving pain cramps in the stomach in order to help with the symptoms. It also helps to reduce indigestion by reducing the acidity of the stomach acid. 

Who is Kolanticon Gel suitable for?

It is suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over. It is not suitable for anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients contained in the gel. These are:

  • Dicycloverine hydrochloride
  • Aluminium hydroxide
  • Light magnesium oxide
  • Simethicone
  • Magnesium sulphate
  • Methylcellulose 450
  • Benzyl alcohol
  • Sodium lauryl sulphate
  • Saccharin sodium
  • Alcohol 95%
  • Methylparaben
  • Propylparaben
  • Butylparaben
  • Citric acid
  • Oil of cinnamon
  • Oil of peppermint
  • Oil of spearmint
  • Oil of cedar leaf
  • Oil of nutmeg
  • Menthol
  • Eucalyptol

You should also not use this gel if you:

  • Find it difficult passing urine
  • Have ulcerative colitis or any other related condition
  • Suffer from myasthenia gravis (a very rare muscle disease)
  • Have glaucoma

Is it suitable for someone who is either pregnant or breastfeeding?

There is no evidence to suggest that there are risks associated with using Kolanticon Gel while pregnant or breastfeeding. However, caution should still be taken and anyone who is thinking of using this gel should consult their doctor before using.

How should I use this gel?

The recommended dosage is between 2-4 5ml spoonfuls every four hours.

Are there any side effects?

Like many medicines, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects when taking Kolanticon Gel include:

  • Dry mouth
  • Blurred vision
  • Constipation
  • Difficulty passing urine

If you notice a side effect persist long-term or a more serious side effect, then contact your doctor as soon as possible.

The usual dose is two to four 5ml spoonfuls (10-20ml) every four hours if needed. You should shake the bottle before use to mix the ingredients properly. Then measure out the amount you need onto a 5ml spoon and swallow the liquid.
