Apart from being taken orally in tablets form, Buscopan can also be given by injection, but this is usually only done by a medical practitioner. Generally, the tablet has a sweetened outer layer and the core tablet. With a shelf life of five years, Buscopan should be stored at a temperature of below 25°C in a cool and dry place. It should also be protected from light.
It is suitable for children of 6 years and above, with a recommended dosage of 1 tablet three times daily. Whereas for adults, with respect to their body weights, the recommended dosage is 2 tablets four times daily.
What are the trace ingredients?
The drug comes in two tablet forms as Buscopan IBS Relief and Buscopan Cramps. More so, Buscopan is formulated with trace ingredients like; calcium hydrogen phosphate, soluble colloidal silica, tartaric acid, maize starch, dried starch, and stearic acid. Whereas the tablet coating has sucrose (41.2 mg), titanium dioxide, macrogol 6000, povidone, talc, acacia, carnauba wax, and white beeswax.
