Are hypromellose eye drops suitable for kids?
Hypromellose eye drops can be used by kids who are suffering from dry eyes.
However, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before giving these drops to your child, to be sure that you’re using the right medication for them.
Children should be properly supervised while using any eye drops, and the drops should be kept out of sight and reach of children when they’re not in use.
Can I drive after using hypromellose eye drops?
When you’ve used hypromellose eye drops, or any other eye drops, there is a chance that you’ll experience blurred vision for a short time afterwards.
If this happens to you, do not attempt to drive or use tools or machinery until you are absolutely sure that you are safe to do so.
Can I use hypromellose eye drops if I’m wearing contact lenses?
If you wear contact lenses, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using hypromellose eye drops.
You will not be able to wear your contact lenses while using some hypromellose formulations, whereas you will be able to wear your contact lenses 15 minutes after applying some others.
A medical professional will be able to tell you whether your eye drops can be used with contact lenses or whether you’ll have to wear glasses until you’ve finished using this treatment.
Does hypromellose have any side effects?
Like all medications, hypromellose can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them.
Some of the most common side effects of these eye drops include:
- Blurred vision
- Eye irritation or pain
- Feeling like there’s a foreign body in your eyes
- Redness
If you experience these or any other side effects while using hypromellose, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
For a full list of the side effects of your own eye drops, please read the patient information leaflet that’s included with the product.
