Every year, Men’s Health Week takes place on the week leading up to and ending on Father’s Day. This year, it’s running from Monday, June 15 to Sunday, June 21.
Since 2002, it’s been raising awareness of preventable health problems in men, promoting healthier lifestyle choices and encouraging supportive and meaningful conversations about men’s wellbeing.
As proud supporters of the event and men’s health as a whole, we wanted to start a conversation around some of the health concerns men have, the steps they can help to look after their wellbeing, and how we can help.
Three key takeaways
Many conditions men deal with are both common and manageable – you’re never alone and support is available!
Reaching out for help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength – there’s nothing wrong with keeping on top of your health and wellbeing.
Your physical and mental health go hand in hand – small steps in one area can make a big difference in the other.
What is Men’s Health Week?
Men’s Health Week is a time every year to take a step back and check in with yourself without judgement.
Whether it’s something physical or mental, it’s important to recognise that men are affected by common health concerns every day, and that there’s support, advice and treatment available.
“At Chemist4U, Men’s Health Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the conditions that can impact men’s wellbeing, while also considering the emotional impact they can have. Concerns about appearance, confidence, energy levels or relationships aren’t just physical. They can affect how you feel day-to-day, too.
Weight gain and obesity are increasingly common among men, but they’re often overlooked. There’s a public perception that it’s perfectly fine for men to get ‘fat and old’, and while neither thing is something to be ashamed of, the health impact of being overweight shouldn’t be ignored.
Carrying excess weight isn’t just about how you look. Higher levels of visceral fat (the fat stored around your organs) are linked to an increased risk of conditions like type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
Alongside the physical impact, weight can also take a toll mentally. It’s common to experience low confidence, frustration or stress, especially if you feel like your weight has gradually got out of your control.
Things like improving your diet, increasing physical activity and building healthier habits are key starting points to sustainable weight loss, but for some men additional support can make the process more achievable.
What help is available?

However, this doesn’t mean you’ve got feel okay about it. While some men might not mind, it doesn’t take away from the fact that losing your hair can be big source of insecurity, especially for younger men.
Hair loss can go beyond appearance, affecting how men see themselves. It can make men feel less attractive, more self-conscious and begin impacting their social life.
If any of this rings true with you, it’s important to know that support and treatment options are available.

How Chemist4U can support you this Men’s Health Week
We’ve all heard before that there’s nothing to be ashamed of, and it’s true! But we also get that just saying it doesn’t make it any easier to go and speak to someone.
More than this, we know for it’s especially difficult for men to reach out and ask for help, especially if they’re dealing with a sensitive issue.
And it’s exactly because we understand this that we ensure that your experience with Chemist4U is always kept private and secure, from confidential consultations to discreet, non-branded delivery packaging. We believe that men deserve to feel healthy, and confident – and that small steps still matter.
