What is Lyclear Extra Strong Treat and Protect Lotion?
Lyclear Extra Strong Treat and Protect Lotion is a powerful head lice and nit treatment. The extra strong formula has been proven to be up to 100% effective against head lice and nits and only takes 10 minutes to work. After initial use, Lyclear Extra Strong can provide effective protection from reinfestation for up to 72 hours. This caring lotion does not contain any harsh pesticides, so is gentle on skin whilst being effective against lice.
What are head lice?
Head lice are tiny insects that can live in hair and feed on the blood from the scalp. If you catch head lice, they may make your scalp itchy and uncomfortable and due to their tiny size, they can be difficult to spot, until you have quite a few of them.. Although they are a nuisance, they do not pose a serious problem and are easily treated. Head lice and nits are common problem, especially for young children and their families as they are easily spread through head to head contact. Adult head lice typically grow to around 3mm in length and a typical infestation would consist of around 30 head lice, however it is possible to have more than 1000 lice in your hair, if the infestation is severe.
How do head lice spread?
It is a common misconception that head lice can only be found in hair that is dirty, but this simply isn’t true. Anyone can have a head lice infestation, but they’re more commonly found in young children, especially those who have long hair. Head lice can’t jump, fly or swim, so they can only spread through direct head-to-head contact with a person who has an infestation. It can take only half a minute for a head louse to crawl from one head to another. It is extremely unlikely to catch head lice from sharing objects such as hats, brushes, combs or pillows as head lice can’t survive for long once they are removed from your head as they no longer have a food supply and die.
What is the difference between head lice and nits?
Head lice multiply by attaching eggs to your hair with a glue-like substance, which the females excrete as they lay the eggs. Head lice eggs can hatch within a week and leave behind the empty white egg cases which are called nits. If you see nits in your hair, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you still have an active head lice infestation (live head lice in your hair), as the empty egg cases can remain stuck in your hair after the lice have been removed.
How does Lyclear Extra Strong treat head lice?
Lyclear Extra Strong Lotion works by suffocating and dehydrating head lice, including those who have become resistant to pesticide treatments. Due to this mechanical action, head lice are less likely to develop a resistance to Lyclear Extra Strong and its LPF (Lice Protection Factor) technology causes the hair to become an inhospitable environment for lice which prevents reinfestation for up to 72 hours. Lyclear has been dermatologically tested so is gentle on hair whilst being harsh on head lice, to prevent irritation during treatments and has been clinically proven to remove ‘super lice’ (lice thave have become resistant to pesticide treatment), whilst leaving the hair soft, shiny and easy to rise and comb for effective lice removal. This fast-acting treatment is easy to apply and treats head lice and their eggs in just 10 minutes.
How to use this product
Removing head lice with Lyclear is easy and only takes four simple steps:

Check hair for lice whilst it is still dry by methodically checking lock by lock using the included anti-lice comb.

Shake the bottle well before use and apply a sufficient quantity directly onto dry hair before working the lotion evenly from the roots to the tips. Ensure that all the hair is covered before massaging well, paying special attention to the neck and area behind the ears. Leave the product on the hair for 10 minutes.

Apply a sufficient amount of a good shampoo all over the hair before adding water and massaging the shampoo into the hair and rinsing thoroughly.

Before drying the hair, comb thoroughly with the anti-lice comb to remove the lice and eggs - remember to clean the comb regularly during use, to prevent reinfestation.
Warnings
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical attention if irritation persists. This product is for external use only and should be stored in a dry place at room temperature and protected from light.
