What is Lyclear Extra Strong Shampoo?

What are head lice and nits?
Head lice are tiny insects that can live in hair and feed on the blood from the scalp. If you catch head lice, they may make your scalp itchy and uncomfortable and due to their tiny size, they can be difficult to spot, until you have quite a few of them.. Although they are a nuisance, they do not pose a serious problem and are easily treated. Head lice and nits are common problem, especially for young children and their families as they are easily spread through head to head contact. Adult head lice typically grow to around 3mm in length and a typical infestation would consist of around 30 head lice, however it is possible to have more than 1000 lice in your hair, if the infestation is severe. Head lice multiply by attaching eggs to your hair with a glue-like substance, which the females excrete as they lay the eggs. Head lice eggs can hatch within a week and leave behind the empty white egg cases which are called nits. If you see nits in your hair, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you still have an active head lice infestation (live head lice in your hair), as the empty egg cases can remain stuck in your hair after the lice have been removed.
How do head lice spread?
It is a common misconception that head lice can only be found in hair that is dirty, but this simply isn’t true. Anyone can have a head lice infestation, but they’re more commonly found in young children, especially those who have long hair. Head lice can’t jump, fly or swim, so they can only spread through direct head-to-head contact with a person who has an infestation. It can take only half a minute for a head louse to crawl from one head to another. It is extremely unlikely to catch head lice from sharing objects such as hats, brushes, combs or pillows as head lice can’t survive for long once they are removed from your head as they no longer have a food supply and die.
How do head lice become resistant to treatment?
Head lice can become resistant to traditional lice treatments that include pesticides, such as remedies that include permethrin. They genetically mutate, so their bodies are not affected by the pesticide chemical, thus they cannot be killed by it. Symptoms of Super Lice are exactly the same as head lice, except traditional pesticide treatments will not affect them, so you will still have a live infestation even after using the pesticide treatment. If you experience lice after using traditional treatments, you may have Super Lice which will need to be treated with a non-pesticide treatment like Lyclear Extra Strong Shampoo.
How does Lyclear Extra Strong Shampoo help to treat head lice?
Lyclear Extra Strong Shampoo works to eliminate head lice and eggs by suffocating and dehydrating them, so they can be easily removed, whilst also cleaning the hair so there is no need to use a separate shampoo after treatment. The active component in Lyclear Extra Strong Shampoos is Lice Prevention Factor which helps to prevent reinfestation and lice are less likely to become resistant as it makes the hair an inhospitable environment for the lice. The effective formula is clinically proven to remove Super Lice, whilst being gentle on skin and leaving the hair, healthy, soft and free from irritating lice.
How to use this product
Removing head lice from your hair can be achieved in 5 simple steps:

Whilst the hair is dry, methodically check the hair for lice, lock by lock, using an anti-lice comb (also known as a nit-comb)

Apply a generous amount of Lyclear Extra Strong Shampoo to DRY hair, ensuring all hair and the entire scalp is covered. Massage the shampoo from the roots to the tips of the hair and pay particular attention the neck and behind the ears - leave the product on the hair for 10 minutes

Add enough water to the hair to enable you to lather the product into a foam

Wash and rinse the hair thoroughly

Comb through the hair with an anti-lice comb to remove lice and their eggs before drying and styling the hair as normal
Ensure you clean the comb in between strokes to prevent reinfestation and placing any lice/eggs on the comb back into the hair.
Warnings
Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water and consult a doctor if irritation persists. If allergic reaction or severe irritation occurs, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention if required.
