What is Manevac Granules 400g?

Manevac is a laxative that helps to ease constipation and allow the bowel to move more freely. It works by contracting the bowel to move the faeces along. These granules use natural ingredients which helps to restore natural movement in the bowel.

What causes constipation?

There is no single reason that causes constipation. Constipation can be the result of several factors. These include:

  • Not eating enough fibre
  • Not drinking enough fluids
  • Ignoring the urge to go to the toilet
  • Stress and anxiety
  • A lack of exercise
  • Certain types of medication
  • Being underweight or overweight
  • A fever or high temperature
  • Pregnancy
  • Diabetes
  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Bowel cancer
  • Inflammatory Bowel Disease
For children, constipation can be caused because of a poor diet, nervousness about using the toilet as well as poor toilet training.

Who is Manevac suitable for?

It is suitable for adults and children aged over 12. It is not suitable for anyone who is allergic to the ingredients in the granules.

Is it suitable for someone pregnant or breastfeeding?

Someone pregnant is safe to use it though if you are breastfeeding then it is not recommended.

How much Manevac should I be using?

It is recommended that you take between 1-2 spoonfuls, around 5-10g or granules, once a day at night, but not immediately before bedtime. You should take it at least a half-hour before taking other medications. When taking, make sure to use with a glass of water. Only take up to 3 times a week.

Are there any side effects?

Like with many medicines, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:

  • Flatulence (wind)
  • Stomach pain
  • Stomach cramps
  • Runny stools

If a side effect persists long-term or you notice a more serious side effect, contact your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible.

Why do I need to answer some medical questions before I buy?

You do not need a prescription for Manevac, however, you will be asked to complete a short medical questionnaire by your Chemist 4 U pharmacist before we can take your order. This includes some simple questions that all pharmacies legally are required to ask before supplying this kind of product. This helps our pharmacy team to be sure that Manevac is the best choice for you.
