What is Doublebase Emollient Wash Gel?
This Doublebase Wash Gel is a treatment that is intended to be used instead of other soaps when washing the hands. The advantage of this gel over other cleaners is the fact that this does not cause skin irritation. This is useful for anyone who is suffering from skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. The active ingredients in this gel are liquid paraffin and isopropyl myristate, which work by moisturising the skin and helping to prevent moisture loss and causing dry skin.
What is the cause of dry skin?
Dry skin is caused when the skin’s protective barrier becomes damaged, allowing moisture to escape. This can be caused by several reasons. These triggers for dry skin can be external or internal. Internal factors that can cause dry skin include:
- The weather
- Seasons – Summer and winter in particular
- Soaps and detergents
- UV sunlight
- Washing the skin often
- Certain types of medication
Potential internal caused of dry skin can include:
- Genetics
- Hormonal changes – Such as pregnancy or the menopause
- Diet
- Ageing
Some of these factors cannot be controlled, only using the right treatment can reduce the effects of dry skin.
Who is this Doublebase gel suitable for?
This gel is suitable to be used by adults and children to relieve dry skin. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the gel. It can be used if you are using any other medical treatments.
Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this gel?
This Doublebase Gel is safe to use when pregnant or breastfeeding though if you need treatment for dry skin, then it is recommended that you consult a medical professional for advice before using any treatment.
How should Doublebase Emollient Wash Gel be used?
This gel should be used whenever you need to, as you would with any other liquid soap. This gel can be used in the bath or shower though be careful as the gel can cause things to become slippery. After using, make sure to pat the skin dry as rubbing can cause skin irritation.
Are there any side effects?
There are rare cases when a side effect could occur. Potential side effects include skin irritation or an allergic reaction. If you notice any side effect when using this Doublebase gel, then stop using it and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible.
