What is Doublebase Shower Gel?
Doublebase Shower Gel is an emollient which can be used in the shower in place of your normal soap or shower gel. Some soaps can irritate dry skin conditions, such as eczema or dermatitis, and can even dry your skin out further. Doublebase shower gel protects your skin as it cleans, moisturising the skin and easing symptoms such as itching.
What is eczema?
Eczema is a dry skin condition which is very common, especially in children. When you have eczema, you may experience it in small patches, or in wide spread areas across the body. Some of the most common places to experience eczema include the hands, fingers, backs of knees, and insides of elbows. When you have eczema, you may experience symptoms such as:
- Dry skin
- Redness
- Itching
- Soreness
- Irritated skin
- Cracked skin
How will this emollient shower gel help me to manage my dry skin?
Doublebase emollient shower gel contains two active ingredients which work together to soothe and protect dry, irritated skin. Isopropyl myristate and liquid paraffin both work as emollients, providing a barrier over the skin which helps to keep moisture from escaping, hydrating your dry skin from the inside out.
Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Doublebase shower gel is considered to be safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, although safety trials have not currently been conducted. You should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using any new medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, to be sure that this product is safe for you.
Can I use this product if I’m using other medication?
Doublebase shower gel is not currently known to affect any other medications. However, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product if you are using any other medication, including those you obtained without a prescription.
Can I use my regular shower gel as well as this product?
You can use other shower gels or soaps at the same time as this product. However, some soaps can aggravate dry skin conditions, so it is recommended that you avoid using other products alongside this one, if possible.
How to use Doublebase Shower Gel
You can use Doublebase Shower Gel as an emollient or as a replacement for soap before, during, or after your shower:
- Before a shower – Apply this shower gel to dry areas of skin using gentle strokes
- During a shower – Apply gel using a washing action, exactly as you would use your regular shower gel. If you choose to use another soap or cleanser as well as this product, use Doublebase shower gel after other products. Rinse well after use
- After a shower – Gently pat skin dry using a soft towel. Apply this shower gel to dry areas of skin using gentle strokes in the same direction as hair growth. Let any excess soak in
When should this product not be used?
Do not use Doublebase Shower Gel if you are allergic to isopropyl myristate, liquid paraffin, or any of the other listed ingredients. This product contains paraffin which can increase the flammability of any fabrics it comes into contact with, for example, clothes or dressings. Take care to avoid naked flames or lit cigarettes while using this product, and be sure to change dressings and clothing regularly. After using this product, your bath or shower may become slippery. Take special care not to slip after using this product, and use a suitable detergent to clean any greasiness from your bath or shower after each use.
How to store this product
Store in a location which is below 25 degrees C. Do not freeze. Store in original packaging, do not use if expiry date printed on packaging has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
