What are Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops?

Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops are designed to coat the outer ear canal with a protective film, soothing irritation and swollen tissue caused by burning, itching, swelling and pain. These ear drops contain lidocaine hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic that will numb pain or irritation in the ears and reduce the amount of fluid in the outer ear canal.

How to use these ear drops

To use Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops, lie on your side with the affected ear facing upwards. You can tilt your head without lying down, however, it may be uncomfortable to stay in this position while you wait for the drops to reach your eardrum

Drop 2 drops into the ear without letting the nozzle touch or enter your ear canal. Keep the drops in your ear and allow a few minutes for the drops to reach the eardrum before returning upright. With children, always use cotton wool to protect their ear after using these ear drops.

You should use Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops 3 times a day for up to 3 days. If you are still experiencing earache after 3 days, consult your doctor for expert advice.

How does lidocaine relieve earache?

Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops contain the active ingredient lidocaine hydrochloride, a type of medicine known as a local anaesthetic. Local anaesthetics like lidocaine work by stopping the nerves in the affected area from sending signals to your brain, meaning you won’t be able to feel any pain or irritation. Lidocaine ear drops can also reduce the amount of fluid in the outer ear canal.

What causes earache?

Earache is very common and a lot of people will experience it at some point in their lives. There are many possible causes of earache, the most common of which include:

  • Ear infection

  • Glue ear (a build-up of fluid deep inside the ear)

  • Injury to the ear

  • Earwax or an object in the ear

  • Throat infection

  • A problem with your jaw

  • A dental abscess

When should this product not be used?

Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops will usually be suitable for most adults and children over 6 months, but you should always read the patient information leaflet before use to make sure this product is right for you or your child. You should not use this product if:

  • You are allergic to any of the ingredients

  • Your eardrum has been damaged or perforated

  • You have an infection or any other problems with your ears

Do not use Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops at the same time as any other ear drops and do not insert hearing aids immediately after use. If you are using any other medication or you’re just unsure whether these ear drops are suitable for you, speak to a Chemist4U pharmacist before using this medicine.

Are there any side effects?

Cl-ear Pain Relief Ear Drops are unlikely to cause any side effects.
