What is Airomir Autohaler?

The Airomir Autohaler contains the active ingredient salbutamol, which is a bronchodilator. It’s used to treat asthma and to prevent it after exercise. It works by opening up the breathing tubes of the lungs to make breathing easier, in addition to reducing feelings of a tight chest, breathlessness and wheezing. This autohaler contains 200 doses.

How to use this product

Always use the Airomir Autohaler exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. If you’ve used CFC inhalers before, please be aware that this autohaler will have a different taste and feel. If this is a new autohaler or you haven’t used it for two weeks or more, you must test it before use. You can do this by shaking it and releasing four puffs into the air.

Do not use the dose release slide to take your medicine. The autohaler device will automatically release a dose when you begin to breathe from the mouthpiece. To use, take the cover off from the mouthpiece, by pulling down on the lip at the back. Shake the autohaler vigorously, then hold the device upright as shown in the patient information leaflet.

Push the lever up so that it stays up. Continue to hold your autohaler device upright, making sure that your hand is not blocking the air vent at the bottom of the device. Breathe out as far as you are comfortable and then immediately place the mouthpiece in your mouth and close your lips around it.

Breathe in slowly and deeply through the mouthpiece. Do not stop breathing in when you hear the slight click and feel the puff in your mouth as it’s important that you carry on breathing in after the puff is released. Hold your breath for 10 seconds and then breathe out slowly. The lever must be lowered to the down position immediately after each puff whilst holding the Autohaler device upright. If your doctor has prescribed more than one puff, repeat steps 2-6. After use, replace the cover on the mouthpiece.

For adults (including the elderly), to relieve symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath, take one or two puffs as needed. For asthma due to exercise, take two puffs before exercising. Do not take more than eight puffs in 24 hours.

Children (aged 4 to 11 years), to relieve symptoms such as wheezing and shortness of breath, take one puff. This may be increased to two puffs if necessary. For asthma due to exercise, take one puff before exercising. This may be increased to two puffs if necessary.

For chronic therapy, up to two puffs can be taken four times daily.

Children (aged 12 years and over) the dose is the same as adults. Children using this autohaler should be supervised by an adult and should use this autohaler only as advised by the doctor.

How to clean your Airomir Autohaler

For normal hygiene, the mouthpiece of your autohaler device should be cleaned weekly with a clean, dry tissue or cloth. Do not push a drying cloth or anything else into any part of the device as it may cause damage to its operating parts. Do not take the device apart.

How to tell when your Airomir Autohaler is empty

When the device is completely empty you will not feel or hear any propellant being discharged.

Is Airomir Autohaler suitable for children?

Yes, this autohaler is suitable for children aged 4 years and over. If you’re looking for an asthma treatment for a child under the age of 4, you must speak to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice on alternative treatment options.

Is Airomir Autohaler suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

Does salbutamol cause drowsiness?
