What is Unicough For Dry Tickly Coughs Oral Solution?

This is an oral solution that is intended to treat any common dry or a tickly cough, as well as treating chesty and mucus coughs. This medication contains three active ingredients that help to relieve the effects of a cough. These are:

  • Diphenhydramine
  • Ammonium chloride
  • Levomenthol

Diphenhydramine is an antihistamine that works to relieve the effects of a cough, including reducing the urge to cough. It also helps to dry the chest and nose. Diphenhydramine can also provide a sedative effect, which can aid with sleeping when used at night. Ammonium chloride is an expectorant which can remove excess mucus and phlegm that causes a blocked nose or a mucus cough. Levomenthol helps provide relief for nasal congestion and also reduces irritation in the mouth and throat.

What causes a dry cough?

A dry cough can be caused by a cold or the flu, or an allergy. It can also be caused by smoking. It can also be caused by heartburn/acid reflux which itself is often caused by indigestion. A dry is different to a chesty or a mucus cough as it does not produce any mucus. In the majority of cases, germs that enter the body because of a cold or the flu will be the cause of a cough.
