What is the Scholl Verruca Removal System?

The Scholl Verruca Removal System is a set of medicated discs and plasters that are designed to treat your verruca. These plasters are thin, flexible, and comfortable, ideal for using on the sole of your foot until your verruca can be removed. The Scholl Verruca Removal System contains everything you’ll need to treat your verruca for up to 30 days, relieving the pain your verruca causes while making it easier to remove.

What is a verruca?

A verruca is a type of wart that appears in the skin on the soles of your feet. A verruca can go away by itself over time, but they can cause you pain as you walk, with many people finding that it feels like standing on a needle. In addition to this, verrucae are contagious and the virus that causes them can pass from person to person if you come into contact with a contaminated surface or another person who has a verruca. This is why many people try to find a remedy that can send their verruca packing quickly, easing the pain and keeping the virus from spreading.

How will the Scholl Verruca Removal System treat my verruca?

The Scholl Verruca Removal System includes medicated discs that use an active ingredient called salicylic acid. Salicylic acid encourages the infected skin of your verruca to peel away slowly over time, so the verruca can be removed easily. The irritation this causes to the area also encourages your immune system to respond, helping the area to heal as you get rid of that irritating verruca.

What is included with this product?

This box contains your medicated discs and a set of plasters to hold them in place:

  • Medicated discs in assorted sizes x 15
  • Wash-proof plasters x 15

Can I use this product if I have diabetes?

People with diabetes, problems with their circulation, or nerve damage should not use this product unless specifically advised otherwise by your doctor. If this product causes you any irritation then you may not recognise it as quickly as possible, causing a delay in removing the disc and plaster which could result in further irritation to your skin.

Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?

If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not use this product. If you think you have a verruca and need a remedy that is safe to use during pregnancy, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist so they can recommend a product that’s right for you.

How to use this product

Before using this product, make sure that the area around your verruca is clean and dry. Choose a disk that’s a similar size to your verruca from the pack, this is important as it will help to protect the healthy skin around your verruca from the active ingredient in this product. Remove the disc from its backing paper and apply it to your verruca with the sticky side facing down. Remove a plaster from the backing paper and fix it over the disk to hold it in place. Leave the disc in place for 48 hours and then remove carefully and replace with a fresh disc if needed. Use this treatment for up to 12 weeks, unless advised otherwise by your doctor or pharmacist, until the verruca can be easily removed.

When should this product not be used?

The Scholl Verruca Removal System is not suitable for use in children under the age of 16, unless specifically advised otherwise by your doctor. Do not use this product if you are allergic to Salicylic Acid, any NSAIDs (such as aspirin or ibuprofen), or any of the other listed ingredients in this product. For external use only. If you experience any excessive discomfort or irritation while using this product, stop use and remove the dressing. Do not use this product:

  • If the area around your verruca is inflamed or broken
  • On moles, birthmarks, warts with hair growing from them, genital warts, facial warts, or mucous membranes (e.g. the inside of your nose or mouth)
  • On normal skin

Does this product have any side effects?

Like all medications, the Scholl Verruca Removal System can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These include skin irritation or a rash if you accidentally apply this product to the healthy skin surrounding the verruca. If you experience this or any other side effect while using this product, stop use and seek medical assistance if needed. For more information about reporting the side effects of medication, please see the MHRA’s Yellow Card Scheme.
