Rozex is a topical treatment for redness and spots associated with rosacea. It contains the active ingredient metronidazole, a type of medicine known as an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. Metronidazole has been shown to help control infection and inflammation in rosacea.



Always use Rozex exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. Wash and dry the affected areas of skin before applying Rozex. Apply a thin layer to all the affected areas and rub in well, being careful to avoid your eyes. You should apply Rozex twice a day (morning and evening), unless instructed otherwise by your doctor.

Do not go out into strong sunlight and avoid exposure to UV light (e.g. solariums, sun lamps) while using this product. It is advised that you avoid alcohol while using Rozex. 


Side effects

Like all medicines, Rozex may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness. Common side effects include: 

  • Dry skin
  • Redness of the skin
  • Itching of the skin
  • Skin discomfort
  • Skin irritation 
  • Worsening of rosacea

Rozex may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if you have any blood disorders. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before using Rozex if you are taking any other medicines, especially those used to thin the blood. Speak to your doctor before using Rozex if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.


Age restrictions

Rozex is not suitable for children and should only be used by adults aged 18 and over. If your child is suffering with rosacea, ask their doctor or pharmacist for suitable treatment options.

Rosacea is a long-term condition that affects the skin on the face. It is more common in women and those with lighter skin, but it can affect anyone, and symptoms are sometimes worse in men. The main symptoms include:
