Soolantra is a topical treatment that helps treat the symptoms of rosacea.
How Soolantra works
Soolantra contains the active ingredient ivermectin, an antiparasitic drug belonging to a group of medicines called avermectins.
Its anti-inflammatory properties help to reduce facial redness and spots associated with rosacea.
Directions
Always use Soolantra exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Soolantra should only be used on the skin of the face.
The recommended dose is 1 application a day.
Apply a pea-sized amount of the cream to the forehead, chin, nose and each cheek. Spread the cream evenly across the face.
You must always apply Soolantra before any other cosmetics.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Soolantra may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects of this product may include:
- Burning sensation of the skin
- Irritation of the skin
- Itching of the skin
- Dry skin
- Rosacea aggravation (this should subside within a week of starting the treatment)
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Soolantra may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before using this product.
Age restrictions
This product is unsuitable for anyone under 18 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Do not use this product if you are pregnant. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before using any new medicine.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.

What are the symptoms of rosacea?
