What are Rennie Orange Chewable Indigestion Tablets?

These Rennie Chewable tablets are a form of treatment that is intended to provide relief for the effects of indigestion and heartburn. The active ingredient in these tablets is calcium carbonate. Calcium carbonate is an antacid that neutralises stomach acid that causes pain and discomfort.

What causes indigestion?

The primary cause of indigestion is certain foods and drinks. The stomach acid irritates the lining of the stomach, causing pain and discomfort. Acid can also escape the stomach and go into the chest, causing heartburn. Other symptoms of indigestion include:

  • Feeling full or bloated
  • Nausea
  • Belching
  • Flatulence
  • Bringing up food or a bitter taste

Besides certain foods and drinks, indigestion can also be caused by smoking, alcohol, or some medicines. A stomach ulcer and stomach cancer can also cause indigestion.

Who are these Rennie tablets suitable for?

These Rennie tablets are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. They should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in them. Anyone suffering from another medical condition and/or using treatment from another condition should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these tablets?

These tablets can be used by someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, though it is recommended that they consult a medical professional for advice before they use these tablets.

How should Rennie Orange Chewable Indigestion Tablets be used?

Initially, only 1-2 tablets should be taken, and then increase the dosage to 4-8 tablets a day. If the pain caused by indigestion and heartburn is more severe, then the dosage can be increased to up to 16 tablets a day. These tablets should only be used for a maximum of 14 days.

Are there any side effects?

Like with many forms of medication, there is a chance of side effects. A side effect is most likely to be caused by an allergic reaction to the tablets, or by overdosing. If you notice a side effect, then stop using these tablets and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record a side effect using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
