What is Rennie Heartburn, Indigestion & Wind Relief?
Rennie Heartburn, Indigestion & Wind Relief is an antacid treatment that works to neutralise excess stomach acid. These tablets can treat a number of conditions including heartburn, indigestion, trapped wind, and an upset stomach. This is thanks to the active ingredients that are contained in the tablets. These are:
- Calcium carbonate
- Magnesium carbonate
- Simeticone
Calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate are both antacids that work to reduce the levels of stomach acid. Simeticone is known as an anti-foaming agent that reduces bloating and pain caused by excessive gas in the stomach.
What causes indigestion?
In most cases, indigestion is not a serious condition and it can have numerous causes. Stomach acid can irritate the lining of the stomach and cause pain and discomfort. Indigestion can be triggered by a number of different things, including:
- Some types of medication
- Obesity
- Stress or anxiety
- A hiatus hernia
- Helicobacter pylori infection
- Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD)
- Stomach ulcers
- Stomach cancer
In most cases, indigestion is likely to be caused by certain types of food and drink.
Who are these Rennie Tablets suitable for?
These tablets are suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over who are suffering from the effects of a condition in the stomach. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the tablets. They should also not be used if any of the following apply to you:
- Have severe kidney disease
- Have high calcium in the kidney stones or urine
- Have high calcium or low phosphate in the blood

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these tablets?
These Rennie tablets are safe to use when pregnant or breastfeeding as long as they are taken as instructed.
How should Rennie Heartburn, Indigestion & Wind Relief chewable tablets be used?
Use 1-2 tablets at a time and suck or chew on them until they have gone completely. Do not exceed taking 11 tablets a day. If problems still persist after taking these tablets, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice.
Are there any side effects?
Since these tablets are a medication, there is a chance of side effects, though it is rare. Potential side effects are most likely to be caused by an allergic reaction. If you notice a side effect, stop using the tablets and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
