Ovex Family Pack - 4 Threadworm Treatment Tablets are a medicine used to treat threadworm infections of the gut.    

 

How Ovex Family Pack - 4 Threadworm Treatment Tablets work

Ovex contains the active ingredient mebendazole. Mebendazole belongs to a group of medicines known as anthelmintics. It works by stopping the worms from using sugar to live, causing them to die.

 

Directions

Always take Ovex exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. 

This medication is a single-dose treatment. Chew or swallow the tablet whole.

You can crush the tablet before giving it to a young child.

 

Side effects

Like all medicines, Ovex may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. The most common side effect of this medication is stomach pain.

If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

 

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

In rare cases, this medication can cause seizures. In the case of a seizure, seek immediate medical attention.

 

Warnings

Ovex may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this tablet if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

 

Using/taking other medicines

If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.

You must tell a healthcare provider if you are taking metronidazole or cimetidine.

 

Age restrictions 

This medication is not recommended for children under 2 years old.

 

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Do not take Ovex if you are pregnant. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine. 

 

Storage information

Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
