How Normacol Granules Constipation Relief works
This product contains w/w sterculia. It is a natural dietary fibre which works to relieve constipation.
Directions
Always take Normacol Granules Constipation Relief exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Adults should take 1-2 sachets a day.
Children aged 6-12 should take half of the adult dose.
To take Normacol, place the granules directly on your tongue. It might be easier to take a few at a time.
You can also sprinkle the granules onto soft food e.g. yoghurt.
Swallow the granules with water. This prevents the oesophagus from getting blocked.
Never chew or crush the granules.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Normacol Granules Constipation Relief may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Side effects may include:
- A swollen stomach
- Wind
- A blocked bowel
- A blocked oesophagus
- Pale stool
- Diarrhoea
- Stomach pains
- Nausea

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Normacol Granules Constipation Relief may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these granules if you are allergic to any of the ingredients.
Do not take Normacol Granules if you have a blockage in your intestine or a total loss of muscle tone in the colon.
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have ulcerative colitis or if you have an intolerance to certain sugars.
Normacol can cause diarrhoea which may lead to a loss of fluids and certain salts in your body.
You must make sure you drink plenty of water when taking Normacol.
Age restrictions
This product is not suitable for children under 6 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Normacol can be taken during pregnancy or breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
