What are Normacol Granules for Constipation Relief?

These Normacol sachets are intended for those who are suffering from constipation and want a natural form of relief. The active ingredient sterculia is a natural fibre which reduces constipation.

 

What is constipation?

Constipation is a common condition that can affect anyone. It is characterised by the feeling of pain in the stomach. Constipation can be caused by several different factors, including:

  • A lack of fibre in your diet
  • Not drinking enough liquids
  • Not being active enough
  • Resisting going to the toilet when you need to
  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • A major diet change
  • A side effect of certain types of medication

In some cases, a medical condition can cause constipation. If you think constipation may be caused by another condition, then speak to a doctor.

 

Who is Normacol suitable for?

It is suitable for adults and children aged 6 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the sachets. These are:

  • Sterculia
  • Sodium hydrogen carbonate
  • Sucrose
  • Talc
  • Hard paraffin
  • Titanium dioxide
  • Vanillin

You should also not use Normacol if you:

  • Have a blockage in your gut
  • Suffer from total muscle loss in the colon
  • Have faecal impaction
 

Are these sachets suitable to use if pregnant or breastfeeding?

Yes, you can use Normacol if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

 

How often should I be using a sachet?

You should be using 1-2 sachets once or twice daily after meals. For children half the dosage. It is important to remember that you should only use Normacol for a maximum of four days at a time.

 

Are there any side effects?

In very care cases, there can be side effects. These include:

  • Swollen stomach
  • Flatulence
  • Blocked bowel
  • Gullet can be become blocked if too much Normacol is taken
  • Itchy skin or a rash
  • Diarrhoea
  • Vomiting
