How Movicol-Half Powder Laxative For Consumption Lemon & Lime - 30 Sachets works
Movicol-Half Powder Laxative For Consumption Lemon & Lime - 30 Sachets contain 4 active ingredients: potassium chloride, sodium chloride, sodium hydrogen carbonate and macrogol 3350.
Macrogol 3350 is a laxative. It works by raising the amount of water in your bowel to get it functioning again.
The other three ingredients work together to help restore electrolytes that have been lost.
Directions
Always take Movicol-Half Powder Laxative For Consumption Lemon & Lime exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Dissolve the sachet in ¼ of a glass of water and drink.
For constipation
Take 2 sachets between 1 and 3 times a day depending on the severity of your constipation.
For faecal impaction
16 sachets a day are needed for faecal impaction. The sachets should be taken within 6 hours for up to 3 days if required.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Movicol-Half Powder Laxative For Consumption Lemon & Lime may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
- Mild allergic reactions
- Swollen hands, feet or ankles
- Headaches
- Low levels of potassium in the blood
- Indigestion
- Stomach ache
- Bloating
- Wind
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Mild diarrhoea
- Sore bottom

Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Movicol-Half Powder Laxative For Consumption Lemon & Lime - 30 Sachets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
- You have a blockage in your intestine
- You have a perforated gut wall
- You have inflammatory bowel disease e.g. Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis or toxic megacolon
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking this product.
Some medications like anti-epileptic medicines may not work effectively alongside this product.
Do not take any other medication 1 hour before or 1 hour after taking this product.
Age restrictions
This product is not suitable for children under 12 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
This product can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
