What is Lyclear Head Lice Lotion And Comb?

This Lyclear Lotion works by effectively killing the head lice infestation in the hair and scalp. It works thanks to the two active ingredients, mineral oil and dimethicone. These ingredients help to suffocate and dehydrate the lice.

What is the cause of head lice?

Head lice are an insect that spread from person-to-person because of contact between heads, in particular, younger children are likely to end up with head lice. Besides contact, sharing of combs, brushes, hats, headphones, as well as towels can also contribute to the spread of head lice.

Who is this Lyclear treatment suitable for?

This treatment is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 2 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to any ingredients contained in the solution. Anyone using any other form of medication should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can anyone pregnant or breastfeeding use this treatment?

As with many kinds of medication, it is recommended that anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding speaks to a medical professional before using Lyclear.

How should Lyclear Head Lice Lotion And Comb be used?

Use the comb to find any infestation in the hair. Anyone in the family who could be affected should be treated on the same day. To use the spray, spray it about 10cm from the hair and ensure that all of the hair is covered. Leave the solution on for 15 minutes. Wash the hair after using. Use the comb to remove any lice and eggs after treatment. Clean the comb after each use. Repeat the treatment after 7 days to stop the infestation from returning.

Are there any side effects?

Like with many types of medication, there is a chance of side effects. These may include skin irritation and redness. If you notice a side effect, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record a side effect using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you get head lice again after treatment?

After successfully treating head lice, it’s possible to get re-infected if you come into contact with someone who still has an active lice infestation.

The time it takes to get re-infected can vary depending on your exposure to lice and their eggs, but it can happen relatively quickly if you have close contact with an infested individual or share personal items like combs, brushes or hats.

Do head lice like clean hair?

Head lice are not selective when it comes to cleanliness. They can infect both clean and dirty hair. Lice feed on blood from the scalp, not on dirt or oils.

While there is a common misconception that lice prefer dirty or greasy hair, this is not accurate. Lice can attach themselves to hair shafts and survive in various hair types and conditions.

Do head lice cause greasy hair?

No, head lice themselves do not cause greasy hair. Head lice are parasitic insects that feed on small amounts of blood from the scalp.

Greasy hair is typically caused by an overproduction of natural oils by the scalp's sebaceous glands or inadequate hair washing.

While lice infestations can make the scalp itchy and irritated, this irritation is not the same as greasiness. Greasy hair is a separate issue and should be addressed with proper hair hygiene and care.
