What is Effercitrate For Cystitis Effervescent Tablets?
Effercitrate Tablets are a treatment for the effects of cystitis, a urinary tract infection that affects the bladder. The tablets contain potassium citrate, which works to make the urine less acidic and less painful to urinate.
What is the cause of cystitis?
Cystitis is a condition that is generally short-term and isn’t serious in most cases. Cystitis is far more likely to affect women than men, with an estimated 4 in 5 women that will experience it at some point. The cause of cystitis is bacteria that has gotten into the bladder through the urethra, a tube that carries the urine out of the body. The reason as to why cystitis is more likely to affect women than men can be attributed to the fact that the gap between the back passage and urethra is shorter, as well as the fact that the urethra itself is shorter. There are other potential causes of cystitis as well, which include:
- Wiping from back to front after going to the toilet
- Using a urinary catheter
- Being pregnant
- Having sex
- Being diabetic
- Having a weakened immune system
Symptoms of cystitis besides acidic urine include needed to urinate more often, a pain low in the stomach, and a general feeling of being unwell.
