What is E45 Itch Relief Cream?

E45 Itch Relief Cream is an anti-itch cream that soothes the skin and treats skin conditions including:

  • Eczema
  • Dermatitis
  • Pruritus

This anti-itch cream is fragrance-free, non-greasy and moisturises the skin as well as protect it from further irritation. The active ingredients are lauromacrogols, which treats and soothes the skin, and urea, which is the skin’s natural moisturiser.

How Does E45 Itch Relief Cream work?

This anti-itch cream works by helping the skin to restore its water holding properties. Dry skin happens when the skin becomes dehydrated. This can be made worse by washing the skin, as this can wash away the natural oils in the skin. The urea in the cream penetrates the skin and helps it to restore its natural moisture. The other active ingredient, lauromacrogols, works as an anaesthetic to soothe the skin.

Who is this E45 cream suitable for?

It is suitable for adults and children, aged one month and over. It is not suitable for anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the cream. These are:

  • Urea
  • Lauromacrogols
  • Dimeticone
  • Phenyl dimeticone
  • Liquid paraffin
  • Cetyl palmitate
  • Stearic palmitic acid
  • Octyldodecanol
  • Glycerol 85%
  • Polysorbate
  • Carbomer
  • Trometamol
  • Benzyl alcohol
  • Purified water

People who suffer from inflamed, infected, or oozing in the skin should not use this cream. You should also not use this cream to treat severe and widespread reddening of the skin.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use E45 Itch Relief Cream?

Yes, this cream is suitable to use for someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. However, do not use just before breastfeeding.

Is it ok to use to use this E45 cream with other forms of medication?

This cream can soothe and soften the skin, which can help other creams to be absorbed into the skin. This is useful for treatments for eczema, for example. However, applying creams at the same time can dilute the ingredients and make them neutralise each other. This is why it is recommended that you do not use E45 within 30 minutes of other creams, ointments, and lotions for the skin.

How do I use E45 Itch Relief Cream?

Apply the cream to the affected area of the skin once or twice a day. If problems persist, then you should seek medical advice as soon as possible.

Are there any side effects?

There is a chance of side effects, but they won’t affect everyone. Potential side effects include:

  • Burning sensation
  • Itching
  • Flushing of the skin due to the widening of the small blood vessels (erythema)
  • Formation of pus-filled spots

If you notice a side effect long-term, or a more serious side effect, contact your doctor as soon as possible.
