What is Difflam Oral Rinse?

Difflam Oral Rinse is an anti-inflammatory gargling fluid used to relieve many painful conditions of the mouth and throat including mouth ulcers, sore throat and any discomfort as the result of dentures or dental work.

How to use this product

Always take Difflam Oral Rinse exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. For adults and adolescents over 12 measure 15ml of the solution and use every 1½ - 3 hours; the measuring cup is provided. Rinse the solution around your mouth or gargle for 20 - 30 seconds before spitting out. Do not swallow and do not allow contact with your eyes. Do not use this product for more than 7 days unless advised by your doctor or dentist to do so.

If your symptoms do not improve or worsen, contact your doctor or dentist. If you use more Difflam Oral Rinse than you should, or if you accidentally swallow large quantities of this medicine, contact a health professional for advice immediately. Do not exceed the dosage if you have missed one, simply take your next one as planned.

How does benzydamine hydrochloride work?

Difflam Oral Rinse contains the active ingredient benzydamine hydrochloride which is an anti-inflammatory medication, working to relieve painful mouth and throat conditions by reducing swelling caused by the formation of prostaglandins. Prostaglandins are a natural substance created by the body when it becomes injured or infected, sending a rush of blood to the area of injury or infection and causing discomfort. Stopping these prostaglandins with medication will reduce symptoms.

Is Difflam Oral Rinse suitable for children?

This medication should not be used for children aged 12 years or under. If your child is suffering with any oral discomfort, speak to a dentist or doctor for expert advice and suitable treatments.

Is Difflam Oral Rinse suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.

When should this product not be used?

Difflam Oral Rinse may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if you have a history of asthma or are allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drugs.

Are there any side effects?
