What is Cystopurin 3g Granules With Natural Cranberry Juice Extract Sachets?
Cystopurin Sachets are a treatment that works to provide relief for the effects of cystitis. The active ingredient in these sachets is potassium citrate, which is an alkaline treatment that reduces the acidity in the urine, which is a symptom of cystitis.
What causes cystitis?
Cystitis is a condition that is caused by an infection or inflammation in the bladder. In most cases, it is not a serious condition and will have effect for a short period of time. It is said that 4 in 5 women will experience cystitis at some point in their lives. Cystitis is mainly caused by bacteria getting into the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body), though this is not always the cause. Other causes of cystitis include:
- Wiping from back to front after going to the toilet
- Using a urinary catheter
- Being pregnant
- Having sex
- Being diabetic
- Having a weakened immune system
Women are more likely to experience cystitis than men because the gap between the back passage and urethra is shorter. Also, the urethra itself is shorter, which means it is easier for bacteria to get to the bladder.
Who are these Cystopurin sachets suitable for?
These sachets can be used by adults and children aged 6 and over, though for men and children it is rare and medical advice should be sought if suffering from this condition. Anyone who is allergic to the ingredients in these sachets should not use them. They should also not be used if you have a history of kidney disease. If you have another condition and use medication to treat it, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.
Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these sachets?
These sachets should not be used by anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding unless advised to do so by a doctor.
How should Cystopurin 3g Granules With Natural Cranberry Juice Extract Sachets?
Adults should use a sachet in a glass of water, around 200ml. Do this 3 times a day for 2 days. Use all 6 sachets to complete the treatment. If problems persist, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist for advice.
Are there any side effects?
Like with any medicine, there is a chance of side effects. There could be stomach irritation when using these sachets. If you notice any side effect, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record a side effect using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

How to tell the difference between UTIs and STIs
Can I take Cystopurin 3g Granules 48 hour course after recently taking one 150mg Fluconazole capsule? I have previously used Cystopurin 3g Granules which was roughly 2 months ago.
That's fine to take together, but are you aware the fluconazole would have been used to treat thrush and the Cystopurin is for cystitis
