Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops are used to treat:
- acute otitis externa (infection of the outer ear)
- otitis media (infection in the middle ear)
They can help treat your infection while relieving any discomfort.
How Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops work
Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops contain ciprofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that kills the bacteria that cause infections.
It also contains fluocinolone acetonide, a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that help with swelling and pain.
How quickly do Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops work?
Your symptoms will normally start to ease after 2-3 days of treatment. However, you should complete a full seven-day course of ear drops to make sure your infection is completely gone.
How to use Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops
Always use Cetraxal Plus Ear Drops exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your clinician has instructed.
- 1. Wash your hands thoroughly before using this product.
- 2. Gently clean any discharge from the outer ear. Only clean the discharge that can easily be removed. Do not insert any object into the ear canal.
- 3. Detach the single-dose container from the pack. Hold the container in your hands for 1-2 minutes to warm the ear drops.
- 4. Twist off the cap and tilt your head to one side, keeping your affected ear up. Place all of the contents in the container into the ear.
- 5. To treat an outer ear canal infection, gently pull the outer lobe upward and outward. This will allow the ear drops to flow down into the ear canal.
- 6. You must keep your head sideways for around one minute to allow the medicine time to penetrate the ear. During this time, do not raise your head to a vertical position, and try to avoid rapid movements, as this may cause some of the medicine to leak out of the ear canal.
