What are Celluvisc 1% eye drops?
Celluvisc 1% eye drops are lubricating eye drops for your dry eyes. They work to gently hydrate your eyes, making them feel more comfortable and reduce that gritty, sore feeling that happens when they’re dry. Celluvisc can be used alongside your contact lenses and are packed in single-use vials, helping you to get the right dose of drops even if you’re on the go.
What causes dry eyes?
There are lots of reasons why you may have dry eyes, and it’s a very common problem that happens to lots of people. Some of the most common causes of dry, gritty eyes include:
-
Looking at screens for a long time
-
Wearing contact lenses
-
Being over 50 years old
-
Spending time in heated or air-conditioned environments
-
Being out in dry, windy, cold, or dusty weather
-
Some medications or medical conditions
How will Celluvisc eye drops help to soothe my dry eyes?
Every ml of Celluvisc eye drops contains 10mg of an active ingredient called carmellose sodium. This means that they work by substituting your natural tears, hydrating and lubricating your eyes. This reduces irritation and feelings of burning or grittiness quickly and simply.
Can I use these eye drops if I wear contact lenses?
If you wear contact lenses you should remove them before applying Celluvisc eye drops. Once you’ve used the drops, you should wait for 15 minutes before putting your lenses back in. If you’re unsure whether your contact lenses can be used with eye drops you should ask your optician for more information.
Can I drive after using this product?
You should be able to drive after using this product, however, you should be aware that you may experience blurred vision for up to 15 minutes after use. If this happens to you you should not attempt to drive or use any tools or machinery until you’re sure the effect has passed and your vision is clear.
How to use these eye drops
Wash and dry your hands before use. Tear one of the single-use vials of eye drops from the strip and twist off the cap. Tip your head backwards and use your other hand to gently pull down your bottom eyelid. Position the vial over your eye and gently squeeze it to deposit 1 Celluvisc eye drop into your eye. Blink a few times to spread the drops evenly over your eye and then repeat the process in your other eye. Apply 1 - 2 drops into each eye as needed.
When should this product not be used?
Celluvisc eye drops are not suitable for those who are allergic to carmellose sodium or any of the other listed ingredients. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before using these eye drops if you’re using any other medications, especially other eye drops. You may not be able to use both treatments at the same time.
