What is Bazuka Gel?

Bazuka Gel is a treatment for breaking down and removing a number of infections on the skin, such as warts and verrucas, as well as corns and calluses. This is done with the active ingredients:

  • Salicylic acid
  • Lactic acid

This softens the hard skin, which allows for removal of the infections with a pumice stone or emery board. It also kills the virus that causes warts and verrucas by going under the skin and unclogs the pores.

What are warts and verrucas?

Warts and verrucas are both growths that appear on the skin as a result of a virus. Warts generally appear on the hands and are easily recognisable thanks to the rough appearance on the surface of the skin. Verrucas mostly appear on the foot and are visible because of the white ring that appears around them. Verrucas can be painful.

If left untreated, warts and verrucas can spread, on the body as well as another person.

What are corns and calluses?

Corns and calluses are both hard, thick pieces of skin that have been caused by friction. Mainly due to poorly fitting footwear. They can also sometimes appear on the hands.

Who is Bazuka suitable for?

Bazuka is suitable for any adult or child that is suffering from a wart, verruca, or corns and calluses. It is unsuitable for anyone who is allergic to any of the active ingredients in the gel or the other ingredients, which are:

  • Camphor
  • Pyroxylin
  • Ethanol
  • Ethyl acetate
Bazuka is not suitable for diabetics or anyone who suffers from poor blood flow in their hands or feet.

Can Bazuka be used when pregnant or breastfeeding?

There is no evidence to suggest that Bazuka cannot be used when pregnant or breastfeeding. However, it is recommended that you speak to a doctor before using.

How should I use Bazuka?

You should only use Bazuka once a day, usually in the evening. You use it by applying a thin coating, only one or two drops, onto thoroughly washed and dried skin, this helps in reducing the spread of infection. Once put on, leave the gel to dry for 2-3 minutes. Then, the following evening, remove the white patch of dried gel and reapply it following the same procedure.

Bazuka should only be used on the feet and hands where the infection is. It should not be used on any spots, birthmarks, or warts with hairs in them.

Are there any side effects to using salicylic acid and lactic acid?

Like many medicines and treatments, there may be side effects when using Bazuka Gel. These include:

  • A tingling sensation when applying the gel
  • Skin irritation

If any of these side effects persist, or you notice a more serious side effect, then contact your doctor immediately. You can also report any side effect that you may notice on the MHRA Yellow Card Website.

Do I need a prescription to Bazuka that verruca?

No prescription is necessary.
