What is bacterial vaginosis (BV)?

- Thin and watery discharge
- A strong fishy smell, particularly after sex

They also contain an ingredient called glycogen, which helps to support the growth of lactobacilli, a protective bacterium which helps your body to maintain a healthy balance of vaginal flora.
Can I use these pessaries if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Balance Activ Pessaries are safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, although you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using any new medication at this time. If you are pregnant and think that you may have a vaginal infection you should speak to your doctor as soon as possible.
Can I use this product if I’m taking any other medication?
If you’re taking other medication, including those you obtained without a prescription, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product. Some products can interact when used together, causing unwanted side effects or making your medication less effective.
Can I use these products if I’m trying to become pregnant?
You should not use these pessaries if you are trying to become pregnant, as they may create an environment which makes it more difficult for sperm to travel through your vagina. However, this product does not contain spermicide and should not be used as a method of contraception.
How to use these pessaries
Before using this product, wash your hands thoroughly and remove the pessary from its wrapping. Sit or lie down with your knees bent and your legs apart, then gently insert the pessary into your vagina using your fingers. Make sure that the pessary is as far into your vagina as comfortably possible. Wash your hands again after inserting the pessary.
When should this product not be used?
Do not use Balance Activ Pessaries if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. These pessaries are for single use only, do not attempt to divide the pessary.
How to store this product
Store in a cool, dry place. Do not use if the expiry date printed on original packaging has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
