What is Anusol cream?

Anusol cream is a treatment for piles or haemorrhoids which works to soothe the area and offer protection from bacteria. If you’re suffering from itching, irritation, and swelling caused by piles, Anusol cream can offer quick relief.

What are piles and haemorrhoids?

Piles is another name for haemorrhoids, which are swellings containing enlarged blood vessels that are found inside or around your anus. You may not even realise you have piles as they are usually painless, but they can sometimes cause itching, swelling, and irritation. When you have piles, you may bleed after you have a bowel movement, and could see a lump hanging down from your anus which needs to be pushed back in after you’ve used the bathroom.

How will Anusol cream treat my piles?

Anusol cream contains three active ingredients which work together to treat piles and make you more comfortable. These ingredients are:

  • Zinc oxide
  • Balsam Peru
  • Bismuth oxide

These ingredients work as antiseptics, meaning that they discourage the growth of bacteria around your piles. They also work to help soothe itching and irritation caused by piles by protecting the area.

How to use Anusol cream.

Anusol cream should be applied sparingly to the affected area. Apply at night, first thing in the morning, and after every bowel movement. If you have external piles, wash and dry the area before gently applying Anusol cream. If you have internal piles, wash and dry the affected area and then use the included nozzle to insert some cream into your back passage. Wash the nozzle after every use and wash your hands before and after you use Anusol cream.

When should Anusol cream not be used?

Anusol cream is not suitable for use by those under the age of 18. If you are allergic to Anusol cream or any of the listed ingredients, do not use this product. Speak to your doctor before using Anusol cream if you have rectal bleeding, blood in your stool, or are unsure whether the bleeding you’re experiencing is caused by piles.

As with all medicines, Anusol cream can have side effects, but not everyone will get them. These side effects include:

  • Burning
  • Redness
  • Irritation
  • Itching
  • Pain

If you experience these or any other side effects while using Anusol cream, speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away.

As good as any haemorrhoid cream. Convenient, but a bit messy, if you happen to use a little too much.
