What is Zeroderm ointment?
Zeroderm ointment is an emollient which can help to soothe the symptoms of dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It can be used as an ointment, as a soap, or in the bath to moisturise dry skin, and ease flare ups of dry skin conditions.
What is eczema?
Eczema is a common dry skin condition which can make areas of your skin itchy and dry. It is common in children and some children can grow out of the condition, but it can also occur for the first time in adults. Some of the most common symptoms of eczema include:
- Redness
- Itching
- Dry skin
- Cracked skin
- Inflammation
- Soreness
How will this ointment help to soothe my dry skin?
Zeroderm ointment is an emollient, which means that every time you use this product a barrier is formed over your skin. This helps to keep moisture in your skin, hydrating and moisturising areas of dry skin. It also helps to protect the skin, and is a perfect substitute for soap, which can make some dry skin conditions worse.
Can I use this product if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
Zeroderm ointment should not have any unwanted effects when you are pregnant or breastfeeding. However, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using any medication while pregnant or breastfeeding, as it may not be safe for you or your baby at this time.
Can I use this product if I’m using other medication?
Zeroderm ointment is not known to interact with any other medication during use. However, you should speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using this product if you’re taking other medication, especially those used topically on the skin. Some medications can interact when used together, causing unwanted effects or making your medication less effective.
How to use Zeroderm ointment
You can use Zermoderm ointment in a few different ways to soothe dry skin conditions:
- As an emollient – Smooth this ointment gently into dry skin following the direction of hair growth. Do this whenever necessary to moisturise and soothe the area
- In the bath – Add around 4g of this ointment to hot water and let it melt, then add to your bath and bathe as usual
- Instead of soap – Take a small amount and lather under warm water to clean your skin as needed. Pat skin dry after use
When should this ointment not be used?
Do not use Zeroderm if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. For external use only, keep out of contact with eyes, mucous membranes, or other sensitive areas. Do not apply to broken, badly cracked, bleeding, or infected skin. If you use this product in the bath, be aware that your bath may become slippery after use.
Does this product have any side effects?
Like all medications, Zeroderm ointment can have side effects, but there are currently no known side effects of this product. If you do experience any side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist right away. How to store this product
Store in a cool, dry place. Store in original packaging, do not use if expiry date printed on packaging has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
