Buy Sayana Press Uniject Suspension For Injection

Sayana Press Uniject Suspension For Injection (Sayana Press) is a long-term contraception used to prevent pregnancy.

This product will not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). To protect yourself from STDs and also pregnancy, you should use a barrier method of contraception, such as a condom.

How Sayana Press Uniject Suspension For Injection works

Sayana Press contains the active ingredient medroxyprogesterone, similar to the natural hormone progesterone produced by your ovaries in the second half of your menstrual cycle.

Sayana Press prevents an egg from fully developing and being released from your ovaries during your menstrual cycle.

Directions

Always use Sayana Press exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.

Sayana Press Uniject should be injected into the front upper thigh or abdomen under the skin. The first injection should be performed under the supervision of a healthcare provider.

The injection should be given every 3 months. The first injection must be only administered during the first 5 days of your period.

To administer the injection, choose the area you wish to inject. Try to use a different injection site each time so you are not injecting the same place too often. Do not inject into bony areas or close to the navel of the belly button. Do not inject into scarred skin or where there are skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis.

Ensure the product is at room temperature, but do not remove the needle shield yet. Check the injector and ensure there is no gap, it isn’t damaged, and the needle shield is still in place. Hold the injector firmly by the port and shake vigorously for 30 seconds to mix the contents.

After shaking, check the liquid in the reservoir. It should appear evenly white. If it is not white or leaking, discard it and use a new one. If there is any delay after mixing, you must repeat the mixing step.

Hold the injector firmly by the port with one hand. Ensure the needle shield points upwards; do not squeeze the reservoir. Hold the needle shield with your opposite hand and push the needle shield firmly towards the port until it can’t go any further. Make sure there is no gap remaining. When you are ready to inject, remove the needle shield.

Gently pinch a large area of skin with one hand. Hold the injector by the port with the needle pointing downwards with your other hand. Insert the needle into the skin until the port just touches the skin. Squeeze the reservoir slowly to inject the contents; this should take 5-7 seconds.

Gently pull the needle out of your skin. After the injection, a small amount of the liquid will be left around the inside edge of the reservoir. Ask your healthcare provider for advice if you believe the full dose has not been given. Do not inject a second dose.

Use a clean cotton pad to press gently on the injection site for a few seconds.

Once you have finished, immediately dispose of the needle in a suitable sharps container. This product is for single use only; do not reuse it.

If you miss a dose, you must contact your healthcare provider for advice.

When you switch from another method of contraception, your healthcare provider will ensure you're not at risk of getting pregnant by giving you your first injection at an appropriate time. If you are switching from oral contraception, the first injection must be administered within 7 days after taking your last pill.

The lower levels of oestrogen in your body caused by this product can cause your bones to become thinner.
