What is QV Skin Lotion?

QV Skin Lotion is a light moisturising lotion that can be used all over the body to soothe dry skin. The protective formula provides a barrier to keep moisture locked the skin and can be applied as often as required all over the body. QV Lotion is hypoallergenic, pH balanced and has a low-irritant formulation that is free from fragrances, colours, lanolin and propylene glycol, so is suitable for sensitive skin and prevents irritation. This product is suitable for treating symptoms of skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis and ichthyosis, as well as providing hydration for normal skin. This gentle lotion is suitable for the whole family including infants and the elderly.

Why is my skin dry?

Dry skin can be caused by many different health and environmental factors.

Environmental factors

There are many elements in our environment that can cause dry skin. Variations in the weather can cause temperatures and humidity levels to drop, which can dry out the skin. Being around sources of heat, such as central heating, fireplaces and heaters, as well as spending extended periods of time in hot baths or showers can dry out the skin. Swimming in chlorinated pools and using harsh soaps can strip our skin of its natural oils, which can make it feel dry and irritated.

What is eczema?

Eczema is a long-term skin condition that can cause the skin to become dry, itchy and uncomfortable. It can be managed and even improved with careful treatment, but it is usually a condition can be experienced throughout a person’s life. If it develops during childhood, it is possible for children to grow out of it. Eczema can be present on any part of the body, but it most commonly affects the knees, elbows and around the neck, hands, cheeks and scalp. Severity of eczema cases can vary from person to person, but it can become uncomfortable and cause disruption to everyday life if it isn’t managed.

What is psoriasis?

Psoriasis can affect the skin on the elbows, knees and lower back by forming patches of dry, red scaly skin that is sensitive and causes discomfort. Similar to eczema, the patches can be sore and itchy and can vary in severity, with some people suffering minor irritation and others experiencing severe discomfort. Some cases of psoriasis cause periods of mild or no symptoms followed by periods where symptoms are severe and uncomfortable.
