How does Preparation H Gel help to treat piles?
Preparation H Gel uses natural ingredients to help cool and soothe the area affected by piles or haemorrhoids. One of these ingredients is Hamamelis water, more commonly known as witch hazel, which is well known for its soothing and cooling properties.

Can I use preparation H clear gel when pregnant?
Preparation H clear gel contains hamamelis water, more commonly known as witch hazel. Hamamelis acts as an astringent. Astringents are commonly used in haemorrhoid preparations as they cause the cells they are in contact with to shrink and dry out. This causes shrinkage of the haemorrhoid, thereby relieving the associated pain and discomfort.
