What is Oilatum Shower Gel?
Oilatum shower gel is an alternative to soap which is perfect for those who suffer with eczema, dermatitis, or other dry skin conditions. It’s perfect for those who find that regular soap irritates their dry skin, soothing and hydrating the skin as you shower or bathe.
What is dermatitis?
Contact dermatitis is a dry skin condition which is similar to eczema. It happens when you come into contact with something that you’re sensitive or allergic to, and usually clears up when you’ve avoided this substance. When you have contact dermatitis, you may see symptoms such as:
- Red skin
- Blisters
- Dry skin
- Cracked skin
- Inflammation
How will this shower gel help me to manage dry skin?
Oilatum shower gel uses the active ingredient light liquid paraffin, which works as an emollient. Emollients form a barrier over dry skin, keeping moisture locked into the skin and helping to hydrate the area. This helps to reduce itching and irritation as well as moisturising and soothing dry skin.
Can I use this shower gel if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you shouldn’t have any problems when using this shower gel, but be sure to speak to your doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using any new product at this time. If you are breastfeeding, make sure this product is thoroughly washed off of your breasts before feeding your baby.
How to use Oilatum shower gel
Use Oilatum shower gel exactly as you would any other shower gel every time you bathe or shower. When your skin is wet, lather some of this shower gel between your hands and massage gently into the skin. Rinse well with warm water and then pat the skin dry with a towel.
When should this product not be used?
Do not use Oilatum shower gel if you are allergic to light liquid paraffin or any of the other listed ingredients. This product is not suitable for those who have greasy skin. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes or inside of mouth. This product can make your shower or bath more slippery, so take care during use.
Does this product have any side effects?
Like all medications, Oilatum Shower Gel can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These include:
- Redness of the skin, rash, irritation, itching
- Allergic reaction, e.g. red, swollen, or inflamed skin (dermatitis)

How to store this product
Store in a cool place which is below 25 degrees C. Store in original packaging and do not use if expiry date printed on packaging has passed. Keep out of sight and reach of children.
