Numark Mucus Cough and Cold Relief - 16 Tablets are designed to relieve symptoms that are associated with a cough, cold and the flu.
How Numark Mucus Cough and Cold Relief - 16 Tablets works
Numark Mucus Cough and Cold Relief contains 3 active ingredients: paracetamol, phenylephrine and guaifenesin.
Paracetamol works by blocking the receptors in your brain whenever you have pain. It also has the ability to reduce your temperature.
Phenylephrine is a decongestant that works by reducing the swelling of the blood vessels in your nose.
Finally, guaifenesin is an expectorant. It loosens mucus in the nose, chest and throat.
Directions
Always take Numark Cough and Cold Relief - 16 Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Take 2 tablets every 4 hours. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Numark Mucus Cough and Cold Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
- An upset stomach
- Heart palpitations
- Swelling of the face, lips, throat or mouth
- Difficulty sleeping
- Vomiting
- Raised blood pressure
- Raised body temperature
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
Warnings
Numark Mucus Cough and Cold Relief - 16 Tablets may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not take these tablets if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:
- You have a serious heart condition
- You have high blood pressure
- You have diabetes
- You have an enlarged prostate
- You have an overactive thyroid
- You have glaucoma
- You have difficulty passing urine
- You suffer from kidney or liver problems
- You have pheochromocytoma
Talk to your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist before taking this medicine if:
- You have a bad cough or asthma
- You have angina
- You have Raynaud's phenomenon
Using/taking other medicines
If you are taking or have recently taken any medication, including medication obtained without a prescription, talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking these tablets.
Do not take Numark Mucus Cough and Cold Relief - 16 tablets if you are taking the following medication:
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs)
- Beta blockers
- Other cough suppressants
- Tricyclic antidepressants e.g. imipramine or amitriptyline
Talk to your doctor if you are taking:
- Medication to treat high cholesterol e.g. cholestyramine
- Medication that helps with feeling sick or nausea e.g. metoclopramide or domperidone
- Anticoagulants e.g. warfarin
- Barbiturates e.g. phenobarbitone
- Medicines to treat heart problems or lower blood pressure e.g. digoxin, guanethidine, reserpine or methyldopa
- Medicines to treat migraines e.g. ergotamine or methysergide
- Sedatives e.g. chlorpromazine, pericyazine or fluphenazine
- Antibiotics e.g. flucloxacillin
This medication contains paracetamol. Do not take any additional paracetamol.
Age restrictions
This medication is not suitable for children under 12 years old.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or Chemist4U pharmacist for advice before taking any new medicine.
Alcohol
Do not drink alcohol when you are taking this product.
Storage information
Store in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
