What is Numark Mucus Cough?

Numark Mucus Cough is a cough treatment that is designed to reduce and relieve the effects of a mucus cough. The active ingredient in this medicine is guaifenesin, which is known as an expectorant. An expectorant is a type of medication that helps to loosen trapped mucus in the chest, throat, and throat.

What causes a mucus cough?

A mucus cough is often caused by a cold or the flu. Both are infections that enter the body either through germs in the air or on surfaces that have been touched regularly. Germs on surfaces can survive for up to 24 hours. The infection causes more mucus to be produced in the body and for the airways to become irritated as a result.

Who is this mucus cough medicine suitable for?

This medicine is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 12 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to guaifenesin or any other ingredient contained in the liquid. If you are using medication for any other condition, have an intolerance to certain sugars, or suffer from a chronic cough or asthma, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using.

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this medicine?

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to a medical professional before using this medicine.

How should Numark Mucus Cough be used?

Use 5-10ml every 2-3 hours but do not exceed four doses in a 24-hour period. Do not use this medicine if you are currently using any other treatments for a mucus cough. If symptoms still persist after using for 5 days, stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist.

Are there any side effects?

Like with many types of medicine, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Gastrointestinal discomfort

If you notice any side effect, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
