What are Numark Max Strength Cold & Flu Day & Night Capsules?

These Numark Max Strength Cold & Flu Day & Night Capsules are a form of treatment that is intended to be used in order to relieve symptoms caused by a cold or the flu. These capsules will work to relieve symptoms such as aching, pains, a sore throat, a headache, a blocked nose, and a fever. There are two types of the capsule in this pack, day capsules and night capsules. The night capsules contain the following two active ingredients:

  • Paracetamol
  • Phenylephrine

Paracetamol is a common painkiller which will also help to reduce your temperature when you have a fever. Phenylephrine is a decongestant that will reduce the swelling in the nose that will make breathing easier. The day capsules also contain another active ingredient, caffeine. Caffeine works as a stimulant that helps to keep you awake and will also improve the effectiveness of paracetamol.

 

What causes a cold or the flu?

A virus, such as a cold or the flu, is caused by an infection that is contagious. The main method of a virus spreading is in the air, through someone who is infected coughing or sneezing. Cold weather isn’t a factor in causing an infection, but it can increase the risk of contracting the virus. A virus can also spread through contact surfaces that have been touched by someone who is infected. A cold and the flu are similar in many ways but there are is a difference. The symptoms of the flu are more severe than cold symptoms.

 

Who are these capsules suitable for?

These capsules should only be taken by adults and children aged 16 and over. They should not be taken by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the capsules. They should also not be taken if:

  • You have a serious heart condition
  • You have high blood pressure
  • You have a history of stomach ulcers
  • You have an overactive thyroid
  • You are taking antidepressants known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI’s) or have taken them in the last 14 days

If you are diabetic, have kidney or liver problems, or have circulatory problems, or taking any other form of medication, then speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible.

 

Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use these capsules?

Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding should a medical professional for advice before using these capsules.

 

How should Numark Max Strength Cold & Flu Day & Night Capsules be used?

These capsules should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not chew them. The recommended dosage is two of the day capsules every 4-6 hours, followed by two of the night capsules before bedtime. Do not exceed eight capsules a day.

 

Are there any side effects?

Like with many kinds of medication, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects when using these capsules include:

  • A skin rash
  • Tingling and cool skin
  • A change in heartbeat rhythm
  • Rising blood pressure
  • Nausea
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • A serious skin reaction

If you notice any side effect, stop using these capsules and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
