Buy Norinyl-1 Tablets

Norinyl-1 Tablets are a combined oral contraceptive, otherwise known as ‘the pill’. It contains two types of hormones, oestrogen (mestranol) and progestogen (norethisterone) that work to prevent pregnancy.

It’s important to note that the contraceptive pill will not protect you against sexually transmitted diseases (STIs); to prevent both pregnancy and STIs, it’s advised that you wear a condom.

How Norinyl-1 Tablets work

The hormones in these tablets stop your ovaries from releasing an egg. They also help prevent sperm from reaching an egg by thickening the mucus at the neck of the womb, making it difficult for an egg to implant itself.

Directions

Always take Norinyl-1 Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you. Take the first tablet on the first day of your period, marked with the correct day of the week.

If you start on day 2-5 of your period, you should use another method of contraception, like a condom, for the first seven days, but only for the first pack.

You can take your tablet at any time, but you must remember to take it at the same time each day. Take a tablet every day until you finish all 21 in the pack. After this, stop taking the tablets for 7 days; you may bleed during this time.

You do not need to use any other forms of contraception during this time, as you will still be protected against pregnancy. After 7 days have passed, start your next pack of pills, even if you’re still bleeding. You will always start a new pack on the same day of the week.

If you require further information about the directions of Norinyl-1 Tablets, for example, you’re changing from another form of contraception, starting after childbirth, a miscarriage or an abortion, please refer to the patient information leaflet.

What to do if you have stomach upset

If you have been sick or have had diarrhoea within 4 hours of taking your Norinyl-1 Tablet, it may not be effective at protecting you against pregnancy. You should always use another method of contraception, like a condom, during the period of stomach upset and for the next 7 days.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Norinyl-1 Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:

  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • High blood pressure
  • Changes in sex drive
  • Worsening of womb disorders
  • Feeling or being sick
  • Stomach upset
  • Changes in appetite
  • Changes in the way your body breaks down sugars, fats or vitamins
  • Breast swelling or tenderness
  • Bleeding from the uterus that isn’t from menstruation

For more information on potential side effects, refer to the patient information leaflet. If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Rarely, women who take the combined contraceptive pill may be at an increased risk of developing blood clots, certain types of cancers and psychiatric disorders. For further information about these serious side effects, please refer to the patient information leaflet.
