What are Night Nurse Cold & Flu Capsules?
Night Nurse Cold & Flu Capsules are a treatment that works to provide relief for the effects of a cold or the flu. The capsules contain three ingredients that help to relieve cold and flu symptoms. The ingredients are:
- Paracetamol
- Promethazine hydrochloride
- Dextromethorphan hydrobromide
Paracetamol is a painkiller that works to provide relief for pain and also reduce a fever. Promethazine is an antihistamine that will reduce a runny nose and help to provide a better night’s sleep. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant that will help to stop a dry or a chesty cough.
What causes a cold or the flu?
Both a cold and the flu are viruses. They are caused by an infection that can get into the body through germs, either in the nose, mouth, or eyes after getting into the air from someone sneezing. Touching surfaces when infected can also make germs get onto them.
Who are these capsules suitable for?
These Night Nurse Capsules are suitable for adults and children aged 16 and over. Do not use if you are allergic to any of the ingredients contained in the capsules. You should also not use the capsules if you have or have had any of the following:
- A chest infection
- Worsening asthma
- Severe respiratory problems
- Using Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs) for depression
- Using a pregnancy test
If you are using any medication for a condition already, then you should speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist before using. Do not use these capsules if you are already taking paracetamol.
Can these capsules be used by someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding?
Do not use Night Nurse Capsules if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
How should Night Nurse Cold & Flu Capsules be used?
Take 2 capsules just before bedtime with a glass of water. Only take one dose a day and not for longer than 3 days at a time. If symptoms still persist after using, speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist.
Are there any side effects?
Like with many types of medication, there is a chance of side effects. Potential side effects include:
- Drowsiness
- Dizziness
- Blurred vision
- A headache
- Dry mouth
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Sleeplessness
If you notice any side effects, then stop using and speak to a doctor or Chemist 4 U pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record any side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
