Mounjaro price increases: Everything you need to know
Weight loss injection pen and tape measure

Eli Lilly, the manufacturer of Mounjaro, has announced that prices will rise from the 1st of September 2025. They have stated that this is to bring UK prices in line with those in European countries. We can’t confirm exactly how this will affect the price of your treatment right now, but we are doing everything we can to provide you with suitable options for continuing your weight loss journey smoothly.

Here, we’ll explain how and why prices for Mounjaro are changing, and what this means for you as a patient. We’ll also cover exactly how you can continue your weight loss journey with Chemist4U.

Key takeaways:

  • This price increase affects everyone paying privately, from pharmacies to private clinics. All online providers will also be affected by these changes
  • The price increase will affect all doses of Mounjaro
  • Mounjaro is not changing from a medical point of view. It still contains exactly the same ingredients and works in the same way
  • The decision to raise prices is solely down to the manufacturer. Individual providers have not chosen to raise prices

Why is Mounjaro increasing in price?

Mounjaro prices are increasing because its manufacturer has raised its prices. These changes will affect every provider of Mounjaro throughout the UK, making Mounjaro more expensive. This is because providers will have to pay more for their stock, so they will need to raise prices to cover the additional costs.

The manufacturer has stated that this price change is intended to bring prices in the UK more in line with those in other developed countries. This is because when Mounjaro first launched in the UK, it was priced lower to provide greater access for patients.

Eli Lilly has since stated that the market has evolved and that they have new data to support changing their prices in this way. As Eli Lilly is the only supplier of Mounjaro, any change in their pricing will affect the price points of every provider who purchases it from them.

James O’Loan, CEO & Chief Superintendent Pharmacist at Chemist4U:

“In light of recent news regarding price rises for Mounjaro, Chemist4U’s top priority is shielding our customers from price volatility and supporting patients to keep on track with their weight loss journey.

We are currently in negotiations with Eli Lilly on future pricing for Mounjaro, but in the meantime, we have no immediate plans to increase our prices in line with theirs on the 1st of September and have plenty of stock, including bundles, available. Our team of pharmacists are on hand to provide advice to any new or existing customers who need our support.”

What does this mean for me?

This means you’re likely to see the price of Mounjaro increase at every provider in the UK from the 1st of September. It also means you may need to make some decisions about how you continue your weight loss journey. But don’t worry — we’re here to help. We’ll make sure you know all of your options so you can make the most informed decisions about your healthcare.

What are my options for continuing treatment?

There are three approaches you can take when considering the price changes:

Stick with Mounjaro

If you’re not concerned about the price increases and are happy to continue with treatment as you do now, you can. There are no stock issues or concerns about Mounjaro's availability; the only thing that’s changing is the price point.

Stock up before the price changes

Before the new prices take effect, you can purchase a bundle of Mounjaro at the current price to avoid paying more later. We offer bundles of up to 3 months of treatment, which could provide a more affordable way for you to continue Mounjaro at its current price point.

Switch to a new treatment

You can choose to switch to a different weight loss treatment that’s not affected by these price changes. One option is Wegovy, another weight loss injection that works in a similar way and has helped many patients achieve great results.

How much Mounjaro can I get before the price changes?

If you request a Mounjaro bundle, you can get up to 3 months’ worth of Mounjaro, as long as our pharmacists believe it’s safe and suitable for you.

We currently provide bundles of treatment at every dose, and you can also request bundles with increasing doses if you plan to titrate your dose each month.

Learn more about bundles.

Do these changes only affect Mounjaro?

Yes. Eli Lilly only provides Mounjaro, and no other weight loss manufacturers have stated that they are increasing their prices. However, this does not mean that providers won’t choose to raise prices on other treatments.

Can I switch to a different treatment?

Yes, you can. There are treatments available, such as Wegovy, that work in the same way as Mounjaro and achieve very similar results. Wegovy will not be changing in price, and there is plenty of stock available. We’ve provided full instructions on how to safely and effectively switch to Wegovy if that’s how you’d like to continue your weight loss journey.

Can I get Mounjaro on the NHS instead?

You can get Mounjaro on the NHS, but it’s very difficult. You also need to meet very strict criteria in order to get it prescribed. If you’ve already started losing weight with Mounjaro and no longer meet that criteria, it’s unlikely that they’ll prescribe treatment for you.

The current criteria for getting treatment on the NHS is:

BMI Requirement: 40 or greater, or 37.5 or greater if from a Black, Asian, or other minority background

Age Requirement: Over 18 years old

Health Conditions: Must have at least 4 confirmed diagnoses from the following conditions:

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Hypertension (high blood pressure)
  • Dyslipidaemia (unhealthy levels of lipids/fats in the blood)
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Obstructive sleep apnoea

If this doesn’t apply to you, it’s highly unlikely you’ll be prescribed Mounjaro on the NHS.

How much will the price increase be?

We can’t say exactly how much prices will change, as this hasn’t been made clear yet. Different providers will also set different price points based on the increase. We’ve put together some views on what this might look like for you, and you could save money by switching your treatment.

We’re doing everything we can to keep our prices accessible while ensuring you have access to alternative treatment options.

Will this affect the availability of Mounjaro?

No. There will still be plenty of stock of Mounjaro. The only thing that’s changing is how much it costs. You may notice that some providers experience stock issues before the price changes, as people may order more Mounjaro in advance.

What happens if I can’t afford the new price?

If you can’t afford the new price, we’ll be here to support you in switching to a more affordable treatment. One option is Wegovy, a weight loss injection that works in a very similar way to Mounjaro and has helped many of our patients achieve excellent results. It’s currently available from £99, and we have plenty of stock.

If you decide to switch, our clinical team will review your medical history to make sure it’s safe and suitable for you. We’ll also provide clear guidance on how to transition smoothly from Mounjaro to Wegovy, so you can continue your weight loss journey without interruption. Our aim is to make sure you still have access to an effective treatment that fits both your health needs and your budget.

What support is available if I have to switch treatments?

We’ve provided a full guide on how to switch from Mounjaro to Wegovy, and our pharmacists are here to help and support you every step of the way. We’ll make sure you’re on the right treatment for your needs, with your health as our top priority. If you need any advice or more information, please get in touch.

Can I switch to Chemist4U for you if I’m with a different provider?

Yes. If you’re unhappy with your existing provider due to changes in their pricing or how they’re handling the price increases from Eli Lilly, we’re here to help make things easier for you. Switching to us is simple; all you need to do is start a quick online consultation so one of our pharmacists can review your health and ensure you’re getting the right treatment for your needs.

From there, you can choose to continue with Mounjaro or make the switch to Wegovy, depending on what’s most suitable for you. We’ll guide you through every step of the process, from your first order to ongoing support, so you can continue your weight loss journey without unnecessary stress or disruption. Our priority is to ensure you have access to safe, effective treatment that works for you at a price that’s fair.

Will Wegovy run out of stock?

We have plenty of stock of Wegovy available and do not expect any issues with availability going forward, even with many people expected to switch treatments. While we can’t speak for other providers, we can assure you that we’re doing everything we can to offer effective alternatives to Mounjaro and to ensure your weight loss journey continues smoothly without interruption.
