What is Excilor Ultra?

Excilor Ultra is a treatment for fungal nail infections which can help to keep even extensive infections under control until your nail heals. This extra-strong formula penetrates deep into your nail for up to 24 hours, helping your nail to grow back stronger and healthier with just one treatment a day.

What is a fungal nail infection?

A fungal nail infection is a common condition which happens when fungi get under your toe or fingernail and cause an infection. They’re especially common if the area around your nails is warm and damp, for example, if you have sweaty feet after exercising. When you have a fungal nail infection, you’ll notice your nail becoming discoloured, usually starting at the edge and spreading inwards. If left untreated, this can make your nail brittle until it starts to break off and can come away completely.

How will Excilor Ultra treat my fungal nail infection?

Excilor Ultra works by changing the pH balance of the nail, it contains acidic substances that penetrate your nail bed and make the area more acidic. This creates an environment where nail fungus cannot thrive, keeping it under control as your nail heals and the infected part of the nail grows out.

Can I wear nail varnish while I’m using this treatment?

You can wear nail varnish while you’re using Excilor Ultra. However, you’ll need to remove your nail varnish completely using nail varnish remover before each application. You can reapply nail varnish after the product has completely dried on your nail.

Can I use this product if I’m diabetic?

If you have diabetes or any other condition which affects circulation, you should speak to your doctor before using Excilor Ultra. Some foot care products may not be suitable for you, but your doctor can help to assess your condition and help you to choose a treatment that will be right for you.

How to use this product

Before using this product, clean your nail and remove any nail polish. Use the brush provided to coat the whole surface of the nail with a layer of Excilor Ultra. Let the nail dry for 3 – 5 minutes, it will become a transparent film as it dries. For best results, wait for up to 5 minutes before putting on socks or shoes. After the application, you may feel a tingling sensation, this is completely normal and happens because the solution is penetrating your nail. After 24 hours, remove the film by peeling it off from the edge or side of the nail and rolling it away and then apply a fresh coat. For best results, use this product on the whole nail for at least 3 months until the nail has completely recovered.

When should this product not be used?

Do not use Excilor Ultra if you are allergic to any of the listed ingredients. For use on the nail only, avoid contact with the surrounding skin. For external use only, avoid contact with eyes or other sensitive areas.

Does Excilor Ultra have any side effects?

Like all medications, Excilor Ultra can have side effects although not everyone will experience them, these include:

  • Burning sensation
  • Itching
  • Localised pain

If you experience these or any other side effects while using this product, stop use and speak to your doctor or pharmacist. For more information about reporting the side effects of medication, please see the MHRA’s Yellow Card Scheme.

This product works well but is difficult to peel off like it says to do daily. Prefer the pen version bought a while ago.

It works, although it takes a long time, but after two years of affliction, and various ineffective treatments, including 3 month course of prescription drug I am happy to have anything that actually works. The rubbery coating is not that easy to remove, but I have found rubbing with a wet flannel reasonably effective. It is pricey however
