What is Eurax Hydrocortisone Cream?

This Eurax cream is designed to treat skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, and insect bites. It will also treat conditions caused by jewellery, bleaches, detergents, and soaps. The cream solution is a non-greasy and non-staining.

How does it work?

Eurax Hydrocortisone Cream works by reducing the inflammation reducing the itching associated with the skin condition, preventing it from getting worse. The active ingredients, hydrocortisone and crotamiton, help to reduce the immune response to pain, itching and, swelling. As well as that, this cream will also help to treat itching in the skin directly by killing the cause of it.

Who is this skin cream suitable for?

This cream is suitable for adults and children over 10 years of age. For children under the age of 10, seek medical advice before using. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the cream. These are:

  • Hydrocortisone
  • Crotamiton
  • Stearyl alcohol
  • White soft paraffin
  • Polyoxyl 40 stearate
  • Propyl hydroxybenzoate
  • Propylene glycol
  • Methyl hydroxybenzoate
  • Perfume Givaudan No. 45
  • Sulphuric acid
  • Purified water

It should also not be used on cold sores, acne, athlete’s foot, or on open wounds.

Can this cream be used by someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding?

No, this skin cream should not be used by anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. This is because there is no conclusive evidence to suggest that it is safe, or not safe, to use.

Can Eurax Hydrocortisone Cream be used in conjunction with other medication?

If you are using any other medication and want to use this cream, speak to your doctor. There is a chance that the medication and this cream could neutralise each other so it is best to speak to your doctor about your personal situation.

What is the best way to use this cream?

It is recommended that you apply the cream sparingly over the affected area of the skin twice a day for 1 week. If you use it for a week and your condition has not improved, speak to your doctor as soon as possible.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are rare, but they could happen. Potential side effects include burning and itching in the skin. If you notice a side effect long-term or a serious side effect, then go to a doctor as soon as possible.
