What is Driclor and when is it used?
This Driclor treatment is a roll-on antiperspirant. Driclor contains Aluminum Chloride Hexahydrate. This is an antiperspirant that stops you sweating. Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) of the armpits, hands and feet is common in lots of people.
By using this treatment, you can stop the sweat gland producing, and keep under control any unwanted smell or sweat patches.
How will it treat my symptoms?
When you apply Driclor to the skin, the aluminium chloride works by blocking the sweat glands. This causes the pressure of fluid within the sweat glands to rise to the point where they temporarily stop sweat production.
Can I buy Driclor Over the Counter?
Yes, you can buy certain pack sizes and doses over the counter in the UK. You don’t need a prescription to buy this dose, but a pharmacist will need to ensure the treatment is suitable and safe for you.
What causes excessive sweating?
Everyone sweats (perspires) to some extent, especially when it is hot, but some people sweat and become wet and sticky under normal conditions. Embarrassment, stress and tension can make this worse.
Does Driclor cause any side effects?
Like all medicines, Driclor can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. The following may happen with this medicine:
- Application site stinging, irritation, itching, swelling, burning sensation, pain, rash and redness of the skin
You can reduce the chances of stinging and irritation by making sure that:
- You dry your skin carefully before you apply Driclor
- Do not apply to any irritated or sensitive areas of your skin (such as cuts or grazes)
- If you shave under your arms, try to do so in the morning or at different times to applying this treatment
How to use
How to assemble:
- Place the bottle on a flat surface, unscrew the cap carefully and then throw the cap away
- Put the roller ball into the neck of the bottle, gentle push down
- Screw on the larger cap firmly, this will secure the rollerball
Ensure the area to be treated is completely dry before use to avoid skin burning and irritation. When you first start using Driclor, you should use it once a day, the last thing at night just before you go to bed. This is because your sweat glands are least active at this time, and should, therefore, stop you sweating during the day when you wake up.
How should I store these tablets?
Keep out of the sight and reach of children, do not use after the expiry date which is printed on the bottle and carton after expiry. Store upright in a cool place below 25 degrees Celsius.
