Buy Desomono Tablets
Desomono Tablets are a daily contraceptive pill used to prevent pregnancy. They contain a small amount of the progestogen, desogestrel. Progestogens are synthetic versions of progesterone, which is one of the female sex hormones. This is why it is known as the mini pill or a progestogen-only pill (POP).
How Desomono Tablets work
Desomono Tablets work by preventing a woman's egg cell from ripening. It also has effects on cervical mucus, making it more difficult for sperm to enter the womb.
Directions
Always take Desomono Tablets exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor / Chemist4U pharmacist has told you.
Take one tablet at the same time each day, without any breaks in between packs.
If you are late taking the pill
If you are less than 12 hours late, take the pill straight away and continue taking your pills as usual.
If you are more than 12 hours late, take the most recently missed pill immediately. Leave any other missed pills. Use extra contraception for the next 7 days.
Side effects
Like all medicines, Desomono Tablets may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:
- Mood changes
- A decrease in sex drive (libido)
- Nausea
- Acne
- Breast pain
- Irregular or no periods
If you experience any side effects, including any not included in the patient information leaflet, you can report them using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
Serious side effects
Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.
The risk of a blood clot is higher in women on any type of contraceptive pill. It is thought that the risk with progesterone-only pills, such as Desomono, is lower than women on the combined pill. Blood clots are rare but they can be a serious health problem.
The risk of breast cancer is slightly higher in women taking any contraceptive pill. A woman’s risk is higher the older she is rather than how long she has been on the pill for. When a woman stops taking the pill, the risk of breast cancer gradually reduces.
